Voice Mail Hell

As some may know (while most probably don’t or don’t even care) I’ve been the main technician over a public voice mail system for the last 5 years or so. Well, tonight I’ve just about had enough of it! I’ve been trying to track down very weird and intermittent problems for the last 2 weeks and have found myself at the office at 3am for the last 3 nights pounding my head against a brick wall. Guess where I write this rant from right now?!?!? I would gladly trade this miserable machine in for a hiking stick… a nice and hefty stick that I could clobber the dastardly thing with.

    My first thought to your posting was a Lou Reed song where he sings “This is no longer a working number, please redial your call…stay on the line and an operator will try to bail you out.” It seems that operators went away with clock makers.
