Minor Blog Changes

Today I made a few updates to this blog. The biggest change is that entries are now archived individually along with their comments. The timestamp link at the bottom of each entry leads to this default archive. A side effect of this is that readers can now read comments directly in the entry archive, or in a pop-up window by clicking on the comments link. Finally, I added nifty dotted lines between all displayed comments. Hopefully this will help to separate each comment and keep them from running into each other.

Update
It may be that you have issues viewing recently posted comments. If so, try the Reload button on your web browser - at least until I can figure out exactly whats going on.

    Thank you, Scott! Now when we click on a link in the comments the page opens in full browser window, instead of miniature un-enlargable (that I could see) comments window. Yea!

    Well, in an effort to simplify and at Katie’s apparent abhorrent feelings toward pop-up window comments, I’ve axed the pop-up entirely. If anyone misses it dreadfully, then let me know and I’ll cobble together a shoe that fits all.

    Time to launch complaint number one from a grumpy old-fashioned girl who doesn’t like change. Just unsuccessfully attempted to leave an anonymous dirty-minded comment. This new system is so techy clean that it doesn’t allow such filth to slip into the sheets of this personal blog - whoops, sorry! Getting a little naughty again! How is a girl like me supposed to maintain a conservative affectation with no secure outlet for the evil thoughts bursting on her brain? Is the spirit of Fred Rogers editing for the Thought Distillery’s new comment system? Back in the old days of this blog, a girl could be naughty on the sly.

    Dear Grumpy Dirty-Minded Girl,

    I think I have determined the source of your problems - me. No wait. Make that your web browser. I have a hunch you are using Mozilla web browser because after a quick test I got the same results.

    There is a fairly easy solution however! Open the Mozilla “Preferences” and navigate to “Advanced” and then “Cache”. Click on the option labeled “Every time I view the page”. Click on “OK” and Voila! Your browser should now see new comments after you submit. This setting nudges your browser to check for changes in web pages a little more often.

    And now, back to my normal anger inducing posts…

    Uh-oh! Just discovered my anonymous dirty comment. Guess it managed to get posted after all - and now I’ve blown my cover! However, the other comments which I posted under this entry are accounted for in number but are not yet posted to read. I feel so confused and vulnerable - think I’ll go find a rock to hide under.

    Okay, just got your handy directions which you so kindly posted. Sounds like too many techy buttons to push. Perhaps if there were some gears and levers involved (maybe even some diesel engine sound effects) I might give it a try. I’m so foolishly stubborn, I’m going back to my rock.

    I agree - a diesel engine would be good. Especially since I could fuel it up at the local Biodiesel Coop. Then we’d have not only nice rumbly sounds to grasp, but also some earth-friendly french fry smelling exhaust to dance through.
