Kinetic Kraziness

This last weekend brought a zany bunch of people to Corvallis for the annual Davinci Days Kinetic Sculpture Race. The krazy kontraptions are completely human powered and compete in a 3 stage race up the streets, through a mud bog, and down the river. In the end, everyone was a winner because the fun was simply immeasurable. See the gallery for a few photo samplings, including my favorite below…

    That looks like it was a great time! You’ll have to let me know when the next one is and maybe I can find a way to come visit. Figures you’d like the gourd over the lobster though… Come on man! It walks for crying out loud!!

    Technically the walking lobster was easily the most impressive. Emotionally, however, the gourd wins me over. I mean come on - ‘GOURD of the RINGS’??? I’m just a sucker for terrible gourd puns especially when they roll down the road via pedal power!

    What a brilliant festival! It warms my shriveled heart to know that there’s a Gourd of the Rings somewhere in the wide world and that you’re there to photograph it. Bless you, Scott!

    Too bad you don’t have any children to manipulate; you really could have rolled their eyes into the backs of their heads with this one. However, as a kid, I’m sure I would have loved seeing it. What am I saying?! I AM a kid! I vote for the lobster (although to me it looks like a big red ant - would a walking red lobster qualify as a zombie?). Would have loved seeing it in action. Perhaps as “Red Lobster vs. Mothra or Godzilla” would add to the thrill.
