Wicked And Lazy

Once upon a time, I had a website where I would share various happenings in my life. For example, I woud embellish upon last weekend’s theme of cycling and disc golf, or the prior weekend’s road trip to a David Byrne concert followed by the fantastic Oregon coast on the return leg. Heck I probably would have even waxed philosophy on the Pacific Northwest’s strange obsession with coffee and how the humble bagel has mystical powers to nourish the body as well as the soul. If I were feeling really ambitous, I might have even posted a photo of the shipwreck I discovered on the beach. That would have been (as some of the locals say) “Hella cool!”

Hellif I weren’t lazy though. Thats what happens when you do much computer programming - you get lazy. So lazy that even simple decisions seem like a lot of work. Last week I made a program that would randomly choose a place to go for lunch. It was a big hit at the office like I somehow lifted this great burden from the shoulders of all the programmers whom I work with. Now if only I could write a program to write the silly stuff like I’m spewing right now. Or maybe I already have - and this really isn’t me typing? That would be quite wicked now wouldn’t it?

(Later the next day) “Magic eight ball? Hmmm…”

Oooh, you may be on to something here, Mr. McCammon! Many magazine articles and radio/tv programs have mentioned that in our society of freedom, too many choices are a cause of stress. Would I like a latte or a chai? Should I take yoga or tai chi? You could leave the once great “eight ball” in the dust with a program which can keep up with more complex modern craziness. BTW, I hope you keep your computer programming job; despite your wickedness, you may not succeed in menacing your foes if you are too lazy to wield your villainery - just kindly meant advice from a fellow evil villainess down on her luck (they just don’t shake in their shoes when you giggle after you say your lines of doom)! Let’s see that shipwreck! Did you conjure it yourself with your powers of wickedness (starting to think of “Glassman” from “Unbreakable” now)?

  2. You know that program sounds pretty handy. Could I borrow that?

Unfortunatly I know that it is you typing. Who else can keep me so rivited in his ramblings? Besides in order to create a program to write out your weblog for you, you have to give it some form of AI. If you could do that… well then you’d be set.

  3. I love the magic 8 Ball–reminds of the online i-ching (for those too lazy to toss real coins).

I believe my blog takes the cake for true laziness, with the eerie photo of John Edward lurking for several months. And I agree, I want to see that shipwreck!
