Hamster Bites

Lately I seem to be short on words, so for now I’ll simply offer a few tidbits that have kept Mr. Hamster spinning my imagination’s squeaky wheel.

Diesel Hybrid Autos: I would love to see a whole fleet of these on the road powered by 100% biodiesel produced entirely by local vegetable oil crops. With 60mpg on renewable and relatively clean fossil-fuel free energy, though not the perfect solution, this progressive technology and infrastructure is available now - today.

Fixed Gear Bicycles: Computer geek by trade but bicycle freak at heart. I absolutely love the ultra simplicity and raw freedom offered by a fixie! Go ahead, tie my feet to the pedals. I’ll be glad to keep spinning my wheels all the way across the country for a crash landing into the ocean.

Ice Wall: I am always touched by the beauty of nature, and sometimes by certain artistic expressions of humankind. Occasionally the two realms merge together to create a spectacular display that just leaves me in a speechless awe. This endeavor is certainly one of those occurences, and I only experienced it vicariously through the bounty of the web. (be sure to surf through all 6 pages!) Oh how I wish to visit Alaska!

Once, this old-fashioned girl complained of Mr. McCammon’s techy computer instructions; she longed for something more gritty to make the experience more real: the grind and chunk of gears or the chug of a diesel engine, perhaps, to accompany this machine instead of clicks and beeps? He graciously approved the notion, but on the condition that we use biodiesel. Ever since this enlightened world has been opened to me, I’ve fantasized of the warm popcorn or french fry aroma I could be experiencing each time I’m stuck behind some smelly truck…however, it may tempt one from a raw foods diet (doughnuts…DOUGHNUTS)!

    Thanks, Cap’n Scott!
