America We Stand

Posted on the WFMU blog, my latest favorite blog of the week, was this catchy little ditty. If you have broadband, the download is well worth the wait. At first I thought this video was a farce, but further digging into the America We Stand as One website seems to indicate 100% sincerity…

… oh man! I can certainly respect Star-Trek stuntman Dennis Madalone for creatively expressing his devote patriotism and love of country. However, this “new American rock anthem” is just so over-the-top it moves me to tears even after my 4th viewing - tears of laughter that is. The Knight Rider sunglasses and wind-in-hair flash animations on the website are the perfect icing on the cake. I don’t think even Trey Parker and Matt Stone could top this one.

    Young man, I don’t know how you could bear to watch that video more than once! I found it quite frightening! It exposes which gullible social groups are responsible for reelecting Bush. I am sickened that these masses of ignorant and tasteless people have the power to mold any government, let alone the most prominent world power, one that’s fond of bullying where it doesn’t belong! Enablers! These “America We Stand” bozos are trashing our world!

    Dang it I really want to hear it, but I think my internet connection is too slow. It took forever to load then only went about 2 seconds before quitting. Could you give me a summary of it? I’m dying of curiosity.

    Look at you and WFMU - way ahead of the curve! Dennis Madalone was featured on Salon’s Video Dog today.

    So, I guessed wrong about that abomination of a trailer we saw the other day for the WTC movie, featuring an uber-solemn, heroic H.I. McDunnough - It’s not a sappy Spielberg rip-off; It’s Oliver Stone! Gag me with a red, white, and blue spoon.
